There’s something immensely satisfying about seeing a boat leave the workshop for the last time.

After many months of careful planning, skilled craftsmanship and hundreds of hours of meticulous work, our custom-built Redwing 23 has officially been completed and is now doing exactly what she was designed to do—creating memories on the water.

From the very first sheet of marine plywood through to the final coat of paint, every stage of this build was completed here at Duck Flat Wooden Boats. Constructed using modern epoxy composite techniques combined with traditional timber boatbuilding principles, the result is a vessel that offers timeless styling, exceptional strength and remarkably low maintenance.

The Redwing 23 is a design that immediately catches your eye. Her sweeping shearline, compact wheelhouse and purposeful stance give her the character of a classic working launch, while beneath the surface she benefits from modern construction methods and contemporary systems that make ownership both practical and enjoyable.

As with every project that leaves our workshop, it is the details that define the finished product. Fair hull lines perfectly aligned timber trims, quality hardware, thoughtful layout and countless hours of sanding, painting and finishing all combine to produce a boat that we’re genuinely proud to put our name on.

Standing back and seeing her quietly resting alongside the jetty is always a bittersweet moment. While it’s difficult to see another project leave the shed, there’s also enormous satisfaction in knowing she’ll now begin the journey she was built for.
